Community Breastfeeding Initiative

The Community Breastfeeding Initiative (CBI) aims to bring breastfeeding support and resources to local communities across Nebraska willing to engage community stakeholders impacting breastfeeding support. The Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition is offering mini-grants to communities in need of resources, education, and support to advance their community breastfeeding efforts.

Application period for 2019 is now closed. We will announce grant recipient on August 6th at the August Quarterly Meeting.

Goal
Strengthen community breastfeeding support network by engaging stakeholders, providing training and connect local and state breastfeeding advocates.

Eligibility
Community organizations, local public health departments, hospitals, and existing community coalitions may apply for up to $1,000 to support breastfeeding efforts. A local breastfeeding coalition or group of stakeholders must be involved and include representatives from at least 3 of the following sectors: hospitals, primary care, employers, local public health departments, WIC, breastfeeding support groups, & mothers. Due to our funding source, we are only able to accept applications from communities in Nebraska. Preference will be given to those projects which are aligned with the 2019-2021 NE BFC Strategic Plan

Funding Criteria
The CBI mini-grant can support applications from communities throughout the state of Nebraska. Preference will be given to those projects which are able to identify the impact and outcomes of their work. Funds cannot be used to train an individual, purchase food, or provide supplies for clinics.
