What We Do

Learn about our new IBCLC Mentorship Program!

The Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition is so excited to announce the launch of our new IBCLC mentorship program!

The goal of the IBCLC Mentorship Program is to increase the number of IBCLCs of color and IBCLCs in rural areas with little to no access to skilled IBCLC support. We aim to provide easy to understand information and mentoring to help you navigate the certification process.

Scholarships may be available in the future (by application), but all information and meetings are FREE!

Meetings and mentorship is currently available for aspiring IBCLCs of color or those serving a rural area.

If you don't qualify for meetings, don't worry!

The NEBFC and it's members have created easy to read guides for anyone who is an aspiring IBCLC.

  1. Start with our one page document "Thinking of Becoming an IBCLC?" outlining the very basics of becoming an IBCLC.
  2. If you are interested in diving deeper, read our 6 page document, "How to Become an IBCLC".
  3. Already in the process of becoming an IBCLC? Download our "Education Tracker" to track all of the things you need before applying for the exam!

If you are a person of color or serving a rural area and are interested in learning more about how to become an IBCLC, please join our IBCLC mentors: Ann Seacrest, RN, IBCLC and Melanie Horstman, IBCLC, RLC, CPST-I for monthly Zoom meetings!

Our mentors will be answering your questions in a group format, helping to connect you with resources to complete your IBCLC, and letting you know about updates about the program - such as scholarships!

Meeting time:

Have questions about the meetings or your particular situation? Please email or and we will get back to you as soon as we can!
