Community Breastfeeding Initiative
The Community Breastfeeding Initiative (CBI) aims to bring breastfeeding support and resources to local communities across Nebraska willing to engage community stakeholders impacting breastfeeding support.
Built off the success of the Lincoln Community Breastfeeding Initiative and pilot tested in Norfolk, the Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition is offering mini-grants to communities in need of resources, education, and support to advance their community breastfeeding efforts.
GOAL: Strengthen community breastfeeding support network by engaging stakeholders, providing training and connect local and state breastfeeding advocates.
ELIGIBILITY: Community organizations, local public health departments, hospitals, and existing community coalitions may apply for up to $2,000 to support breastfeeding efforts. A local breastfeeding coalition or group of stakeholders must be involved and include representatives from at least 3 of the following sectors: hospitals, primary care, employers, local public health departments, WIC, breastfeeding support groups, & mothers. Due to our funding source, we are only able to accept applications from communities in Nebraska. Preference will be given to those projects which are able to identify the impact and outcomes of the work.
- Funds cannot be used to train an individual, purchase food, or provide supplies for clinics.
