Business of Breastfeeding


We are pleased and proud to be able to provide scholarships to attend Lactation Counselor Training to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). This course has a value of $675, and offers 45 RN Contact Hours, which would be free to scholarship recipients.

Scholarship Application:
All fields need to be completed to be considered for scholarship.

Applicants must be able to:

  • Attend all five days of the course and take the exam
  • Acquire the Pocket Guide for Lactation Management (ISBN-13:978-1449687786)
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to continue with this work in the future and be a breastfeeding advocate
  • Plan to utilize CLC skills to advocate for breastfeeding to peers and co-workers. This can be accomplished in many ways, for example a brief 5-10 minute presentation to co-workers about the benefits of breastfeeding using available resources they can share with all clients. As a part of this scholarship we will provide templates and/or tools which you can use to accomplish this.

Please note: priority will be given for those working with underserved populations.

Breastfeeding Advocates:

  • Promote breastfeeding as the ideal infant feeding choice and work diligently to support breastfeeding moms
  • Enhance breastfeeding friendly maternity practices in hospitals
  • Provide professional breastfeeding education, support and training in physician offices
  • Facilitate peer support and education among WIC (Women, Infants and Children) participants
  • Promote breastfeeding support in the workplace
  • Promote community acceptance of breastfeeding practices

Additional scholarship may be available to support travel, lodging, and/or meals during your participation in this five-day program. Please tell us whether your participation is contingent upon receiving additional support for these expenses:
NOTE: This will not affect acceptance to participate. It will only be considered in order to plan funding needs for additional support to participants.
