JOB TITLE: Project Coordinator
The Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition is a network of individual members and organizational partners dedicated to improving the health of Nebraskans by making breastfeeding the norm through education, advocacy and collaboration. We work together to share information and partner in activities to increase breastfeeding rates across the state.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The project coordinator will engage the leadership team and work with the communication coordinator to take ideas and implement a plan for execution in alignment with the Nebraska Breastfeeding Coalition strategic plan. Projects will include, but are not limited to, the Community Breastfeeding Initiative and the State Health Improvement Plan.
SCOPE OF WORK: Project coordinator will be expected to work 12 hours per week at a rate of $25 per hour.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Leadership team to implement the Coalition’s strategic plan by collaborating with work groups and making partnership connections.
Develop and coordinate a Community Breastfeeding Initiative Mini-Grant to provide guidance and funding to a minimum of 2 communities by establishing a coordinating committee with representatives from primary care, hospitals, mom-to-mom support, worksites, child care, as well as conducting a community needs assessment for breastfeeding support.
Identify and coordinate a training targeting hospital maternity care practices; health care professionals
Serve as the contact and representative for the State Health Improvement Plan objective around increased lactation support.
Advocate for more funds for the Coalition as needs arise.
Lead efforts to collaborate and build relationships with community partners, other local and state coalitions, and national organizations, like the United States Breastfeeding Committee.
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be capable of setting priorities and working under pressure
Must be able to multi-task, working on several projects simultaneously
Ability to work well with internal and external participants and organizations
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred, with experience in promotion of healthy behaviors
Experience:
Professional writing preferred (grant reports, funding proposals, etc)
Microsoft Office Suite
Project management experience preferred
Other:
Ability to develop ideas and implement a process for project execution
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated individual
Work closely with the Communication Coordinator
